Yakima Valley School is excited to announce that we are now accepting applications for a Health Records Technician 1 (HRT1) position in the Health Information Management (HIM) department. This position ensures the security and confidentiality of protected health information and requires knowledge of general health information management. We are looking for a detail-oriented individual to join our highly motivated team at our Yakima Valley location.
Note: Opportunities performed on-site at this work location at least three days a week may be eligible for an additional 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary.
Some of what you'll do:
- Prepare, analyze, and maintain paper and electronic health records; track patient documents using digital and physical data systems.
- Assemble, audit, and transcribe patient records for completeness, accuracy, and timeliness; resolve documentation deficiencies with professional staff.
- Perform quality assurance audits to ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and standards set by Joint Commission and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).
- Abstract, compile, and enter patient information into statewide and department databases; prepare narrative and statistical reports.
- Review, organize, and process court documents received throughout the patient’s hospitalization; maintain and monitor established record-keeping and filing systems.
- Assist with responding to medical record requests in compliance with policies, laws, and requirements, including scanning and redacting records.
- Develop and revise hospital forms, coordinate record retention, archiving, and transmittal of paper records, and collaborate with other Health Information Management (HIM) team members to provide excellent service.
