Some of what you will do:
You will be primarily responsible for providing speech pathology services for individuals with intellectual disabilities as a professional member of an interdisciplinary team. Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Develop, implement, and supervise formal communication programs/interventions to address identified communication needs for each of the clients on your caseload.
- Provide individual written assessments/evaluations for an intellectually disabled population with multiple disabilities as pertaining to speech, language, or hearing disabilities.
- Evaluate recommendations and monitor clients with dysphagia.
- Work within an interdisciplinary team (IDT) and develop intervention/programs that support interdisciplinary team-identified priorities; prioritize individual needs as determined by team consensus.
- Design and construct adaptive equipment for communication.
- Evaluate, acquire, and program communication devices.
- Create communication displays using LessonPix or other graphic software.
- Consult with other professionals and staff on program development.
